Birth:January 31, 1956

Age: 67 years old

Guido Van Rossum graduated with a mathematics and computer science degree from the University of Amsterdam and became a programmer. He worked in the Netherlands and at NIST and CNRI, Google, and Dropbox in the United States. Rossum was awarded the title Benevolent Dictator For Life (BDFL) by the Python user community and designated as a Distinguished Engineer by ACM. Rossum developed the python, which is now used extensively in many applications such as Microsoft, Google, and Facebook to name a few. The National Institute of Standards and Technology invited him to work on the python together where they hosted the first python workshop. Initially, he created a program called ABC, which was not successful. At the Corporation for National Research Initiatives, he worked full-time developing python later.

Furthermore, Rossum was awarded the Free Software Foundation Award, and he wrote the book the Internet Programming with Python along with others. Rossum named the python after the British sketch-comedy series, Monty Python's Flying Circus, which is interesting especially since he named his first program ABC. He also worked on python at night after working his day job in the mornings for three months.
